KompoZer Good News?

The KompoZer web site sports a new banner indicating that Arvixe, a shared web hosting company, is sponsoring the project. If so that could be really good news for the developer and community alike.
.

KompoZer continues the work started by N|vu. That project was sponsored by Kevin Carmony as the then CEO of Linspire. Kazé undertook a bug fix effort without sponsorship or other visible means of support. Since he has added features and has taken ownership of the project. I know there has been a lot of time expended on the project and maybe sponsorship will offer some compensation.

A Word on the Sponsor

Arvixe was founded in 2003 and now hosts thousands of personal, small business and enterprise websites. Their offerings start with a personal account at $4 per month but includes business and specialized accounts. Arvixe has received several awards from HostReview including being a top 10 fastest growing company and a top 10 budget web host.

The company’s founder and CEO is Arvand Sabetian. Mr.Sabetian has a Civil Engineering degree (2008) and is vice president of Avesta Engineering, a family owned business.

In a Web Search interview this month Arvand says, “I’ve been involved with hosting for the last 10 years. As the owner of Arvixe, I handle both senior level support issues as well as the day to day operation of Arvixe.” When you assemble the story you see a young man working for others while getting his engineering degree at Cal Poly. He realized he could have his own company and had the knowledge and courage to do it.

Could be Good

If sponsorship gives Kazé the ability to focus on the project he should make real progress. I’m confident he has the vision necessary to make it happen. He has worked extremely hard to get 0.8a out and working.

So thanks to him and to Mr. Sabetian as well.
