KompoZer is Getting Better

KompoZer is a WYSIWYG HTML editor with a great range of capabilities. It has always been better than the baseline code provided by Nvu and it is getting better every day. The trappings needed to be a big success are also getting better.

When Kazé decided to work the bugs out of Nvu he put up a page as the project web site. The page really wasn’t much to look at but clearly supported the notion the content is king. Downloads from the page-site, KompoZer.net, quickly exceeded bandwidth limitations so the project opened a site on SourceForge.

I was aware of the bandwidth issue and so referenced and linked to the SourceForge site. The other reason was the KompoZer site was a bit austere (to be charitable).

Checking links the other day led to my ‘discovery’ of a new and improved KompoZer site. The content AND presentation give a better idea of the capabilities available in KompoZer and is more inviting. More inviting too is the new message.

Who are you talking to?

I’ve said that KompoZer was a great tool for the novice to use in preparing a web site. Kazé previously emphasized that KompoZer was aimed at the advanced user. In fact KompoZer can cover a wide range of talents and purposes and is getting better every day. It has tools for the novice to use in harnessing cascading style sheets and ways to incorporate text editing for the advanced user. The web site revision incorporated some of that marketing BS that KompoZer really needed.

The target market is now in line with the masses: KompoZer is designed to be extremely easy to use, making it ideal for non-technical computer users who want to create an attractive, professional-looking web site without needing to know HTML or web coding. I fully support that notion and believe that a novice can use KompoZer to create a web site and with a little learning, can use KompoZer to create a stunning web site.

The new KompoZer.net is not exactly stunning but it is way cool and a big improvement over the old site. Congrats to Kazé and his team. I have changed my links.
