Meet KompoZer's Developer

There were times when Kazé disappeared into long periods of silence. One such "dark period" led some of us in the US to think maybe aliens had abducted him. I just assumed he was focused on his day job and maybe that was the case. He is publicly active again on support forums and now a new blog. It gives us an opportunity to get to know the guy behind KompoZer.

New Kazé Blog

Kazé started a blog he calls Kaz'Hack in October of last year. A visitor tipped me off to the new blog just after KompoZer 0.8a1 was released for Linux. It was good to see him in good cheer and health in pictures on his blog.

I found his opening post interesting because he says: "I’ve never really blogged before, but some fellas told me I should write about my work once in a while."

There was an earlier version, Kaz'blog, that carries a note from November 2008, "and I definitely should revamp this ugly website. Or close it, since I obviously don't like blogging.

I think he does enjoy blogging but like fixing things around his house has little time for it. (The current blog gives much insight into the character of this character.)

And Others

It is also interesting to 'meet' some of his friends on the KompoZer project. Kazé references Yves Mairesse who I knew only as "Ymai" on support forums. Kazé refers to him as "an active member of KompoZer’s bug chasing patrol since the very beginning of the project, and he’s also the author of the most famous French-speaking KompoZer tutorial." Ymai was looking for someone to translate that tutorial into English. Unlike Kazé who seems to function well in either French or English I wasn't up to the translation task.

You are encouraged to donate to the KompoZer project if you appreciate the work that has gone into it DONATE TO KOMPOZER.

It is hard to tell if Kazé is an optimist or a pessimist. His wine glass is neither half full nor half empty but always in need of a refill. Maybe you can find your way through the SourceForge donation drill and can buy him a bottle (or a glass) if you enjoy his work. I'll try again this weekend but failed in my first attempt to donate to KompoZer.
