Windows Version to Come
The update is for Linux because an upgrade to the operating system caused KompoZer to stop working. Linux platforms were without a web editor because of it. Version 0.7.10 continues to work in a Windows environment and so a new version was not a priority. N|vu, predecessor to KompoZer, was developed for Linux operating systems.
Another practical reason for Windows to wait is the developer does not have a Windows box to work on. Kazé is working on his own time and resources with scant donations to keep him motivated.
There are a lot of good things about free, open source software and in my view there is a lot wrong going on. I think it is wrong for folks to be asking $19.95 for a training tape on how to use KompoZer when KompoZer is free. I have posted that subject and there is nothing illegal about that or even charging for a KompoZer disk. That doesn't make it right.
I'm clear to point out that this blog is not affiliated with the KompoZer project. I just happen to think it is a great work, one you should know about, download and use. I also think that we need to encourage such works with our support both verbal and financial.
Maybe it was in that post I said that when KompoZer got to 0.8 I would put my money where my mouth is. I will and I want you to as well.
Here's the link to donate to KompoZer: Donate to KompoZer. Be assured that I don't get any of it but I know it is the right thing for us to do.
I'll get my donation in and hope that you will join me. You will see a lot more about donating to KompoZer in this blog because I want Kazé to know we appreciate his work.
Thanks Kazé,
Wysi
